How to do an EPK on your Hostbaby Wizard site

Folks have often asked how to create an EPK using our Wizard website builder, so I thought I'd make one and document the process.

Epk_page.png For this example, I'm going to use the Custom Page on my site. You can use any unused page and just rename it through the navigation bar tab. I'm going to use the Bio format since it's the most flexible. I'm naming the page EPK because that's what it is.

Next let's upload the materials for that page.

I have a 300-dpi (for print) image of the band, a stage plot and a standard one-sheet. You could also include high resolution MP3s, wav files and/or videos. I'm going to upload my files to the site's FILE Bank. Once the files are uploaded, it's time to build the page.

On the EPK page, click Add New to make the entry there. I'm going to paste in a press quote there too, to keep the page from being too boring.

After that, I'm going to ADD NEW again and put in the links to my files. I typed in the text I want to show on the page and then used the HTML editor to link to the files. You can get the address to the file from the file bank itself; just click the file's title and the file bank will show you the URL to copy and paste.

Back on the EPK page, just click to highlight the words you want linked and click the link button (looks like a chain link) and paste in the URL you copied. Repeat until all your files are linked up. When finished, click Change at the bottom.

You can link up *any* files you like - PDF, Word DOC, MP3, JPG, just about anything you'd like to offer!

Don't forget to republish your site when you are done editing!

One additional trick you might want to do is to make a .zip archive file of all of your EPK materials. Here are some instructions on how to do that:

Mac: http://www.apple.com/pro/tips/zip.html Windows: http://www.ehow.com/how_5023369_make-zip-file-compressed-file.html

Once you have created your zip file, you can just upload that to the file bank and link it up the same way you just did the PDF files.
