There are a number of ways to do this. This tutorial will discuss, what we find, to be the easiest way of ripping a CD.
Software!
You'll need a special program to do this task for you. Fortunately, there are a number of free options available for both the PC and the Macintosh!
For PC's use FreeRip
We found this software, FreeRip MP3s, to be great for PC users. This is a piece of freeware, with an opportunity to buy the "full" version of their software. You only need the free version to rip a CD, but feel free to purchase it if you really like it.

For Mac's And PC's use iTunes
Typically, most if not all Macintosh users have iTunes on their machine. iTunes is PC friendly as well, so PC users can try out iTunes as well. Fortunately, ripping CD's with iTunes is also quite easy!
- If you don't already have iTunes installed, you'll want to download and install it from here!
- By default, iTunes will try to import your music as an MP4. We need MP3's for web use, so you'll need to go to your "Import settings".
* Import settings are located at the bottom right of iTunes after inserting a CD. You'll want to make sure you have "Mp3 encoder" selected in your import settings
