Help! My Site is Down!

Having your site go down is a scary thing, and there are approximately 438 billion things that could potentially cause this. But below are a few of the most common:

Domain Expiration

Sometimes folks make the assumption that, because they're now hosted with HostBaby, we automatically become in charge of renewing their domain. We wish it were that easy, but there's actually a process that has to take place for that to happen. So if you know that you haven't done that process, then the best thing to do is to check to see if your domain is expired.

Go to: http://hostbaby.com/whois.php

Type in your domain name. There will be a line that says: Expiration Date

If that date is past, then your domain is expired, and you need to contact your existing registrar to process a renewal. :)

Unfortunately, we cannot renew a domain for you that has already expired.

Account Overdue

We do our best to be flexible with folks who are late with payments. We're all musicians, too, and we know how it can get sometimes. If you contact us, we'll do our best to make payment arrangements. However, sometimes folks don't get back to us and we have no choice but to freeze a site for non-payment.

If you see a FORBIDDEN error, this is probably why, and you'll need to contact us to make payment arrangements so we can turn it back on. :)

Server Issue

Sometimes you can't reach your site by typing in the domain name into the browser. If that happens, you can check this site to see if it's really down, or just an issue with your computer:

http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/

Just enter your domain name there and it'll tell you if it's just you, or down for everyone. If it shows it is down for everyone please contact Hostbaby and let us know.
