Fast Setup of Thunderbird 3.x on Hostbaby

The email client Thunderbird 3.x has a quicker, easier method for setting up new email accounts. Here's how:

  1. Download and install Thunderbird 3.x. (it's free!)
  2. Once installed, select File > New > Mail Account...
  3. When prompted, enter in name, email address, and password. Leave the "Remember password" box checked unless you want to enter your password manually every time

  4. Click Continue
  5. Wait as the Mail Account Setup runs; the outgoing mail server button may turn green or orange. There's no need to worry about this.
  6. Click Create Account.

  7. You may see a red "WARNING" window indicating the "Outgoing settings" do not use encryption. That's okay and normal.
  8. Check the box for I understand the risks
  9. Click Create Account

  10. On the "Add Security Exception" window click Confirm Security Exception

  11. Wait as the "Mail Account Setup" tests your password and settings again. When done, the window will close and you will see the main Thunderbird Inbox.


Test everything by composing and sending a new message out and verifying it works. Also, send yourself a message and verify Thunderbird receives the message.
