Edit your Guestbook

A Guestbook is an excellent way to bring interactivity to your website. Not only is it a way for your fans to contact you, it's also a way for your fans to learn more about each other by reading the comments of the folks who have signed before them.

However, a Guestbook also presents the small problem of being a SPAM magnet. It's a monkey with two heads, that Guestbook. So ultimately it boils down to your patience with removing SPAM entries vs. your delight at reading the legitimate ones. Sadly, this is a problem with all guestbooks, and we've not, as yet, found a way to completely block the spammers. We do, however, block the majority of them!

SO, if you wish to use the guestbook on your site, there's very little to do. It already works, as soon as you publish your site. :)

If, however, you wish to disable your guestbook, you would simply go to:

http://yourdomain.com/hostbaby2/ (replacing yourdomain.com with your actual domain)
click on Website, then Guestbook
You'll see the following screen:

Pretty straight-forward. If you want to turn it off, simply click the 'turn it off' link. Alternately, if it's off, and you want to turn it on, you'll see:

So click to 'turn it on.' instead :)

Now, once you have guestbook entries, this page is where you will go to remove/approve entries. For the security of your audience, it's not possible to *edit* guestbook entries. But you can remove them entirely. Alternately if, under the Settings tab, you have enabled Guestbook Moderation you will have the option to remove or delete entries before they actually make it to your website. We highly recommend this.

Below is an example of two entries - one already approved and available for deletion, and another that has not yet been approved, which offers you the option of approving or deleting that entry before it goes live on your website:

Like the picture above highlights, you have a green check mark available to approve messages, and the red X to delete them.

And that's the guestbook!
