Advanced Settings - SSL & alternate ports
From HostBaby Wiki
SSL
All Hostbaby servers support encrypted SSL connections for all outgoing (SMTP) & incoming (POP3 and IMAP) email communications. If you check your email using a mobile device or connect to the internet via an insecure or public wireless network, it is highly recommended you enable SSL in your email application. (Or if you only use our webmail, just click the "Secure Login" link before logging in)
To enable SSL in your email program, go into your accounts settings and change your server settings to:
- Incoming Server:
yourdomain.com.hostbaby.com - Outgoing Server:
yourdomain.com.hostbaby.com
Under each setting you should see an "SSL" option/checkbox.. enable it (don't enable "TLS" or "Secure Authentication" right now).
The Port numbers should change automatically, but if not, or to double-check, the default SSL ports are (or should be):
- Incoming POP3 (SSL):
995 - Incoming IMAP (SSL):
993 - Outgoing SMTP (SSL):
465
That should do it, go ahead and test it out.
If checking works but sending doesn't, an alternate secure SMTP port is: 587 (this is apparently required for SSL sending on iPhones).
Default email server & port settings
Standard Incoming POP3:
- POP3 server:
yourdomain.com - POP3 port:
110 - Account username:
you@yourdomain.com
Standard Incoming IMAP:

yourdomain.com - IMAP port:
143 - Account username:
you@yourdomain.com
Standard Outgoing SMTP:
- SMTP server:
yourdomain.com - SMTP port:
25 - Alternate SMTP port (if 25 doesn't work):
2525 - Authentication:
Password - Account username:
you@yourdomain.com
SSL Incoming POP
- SSL POP3 server:
yourdomain.com.hostbaby.com - SSL POP3 port:
995 - Account username:
you@yourdomain.com
SSL Incoming IMAP:
- SSL IMAP server:
yourdomain.com.hostbaby.com - SSL IMAP port:
993 - Account username:
you@yourdomain.com
SSL Outgoing SMTP:

yourdomain.com.hostbaby.com - SSL SMTP port:
465 - Alternate SSL SMTP port (if 465 doesn't work):
587 - Authentication:
Password - Account username:

For some mobile devices that don't include a Port setting, just append the port number onto the end of your server name separated with a colon, so for example for SSL SMTP on the alternate port you'd use: mydomain.com.hostbaby.com:587
If you run into any problems then just shoot us an email at hostbaby@hostbaby.com and let us know the problem, what error message you're getting and what settings you're using.
